As summer gently begins to set in, we're embracing the warmth and sunshine – even if this year feels a little gentler than the heatwaves we’ve seen in recent times. Remember July 2022? Northamptonshire sweltered under record-breaking conditions, with Pitsford reaching a staggering 40.2 °C, smashing the previous county record of 36.7 °C set in 1911. That summer saw prolonged, scorching days – particularly between 18–19 July, when a red heat warning covered much of England. It was a stretch of heat so intense that it etched itself into our memories and garden routines.
